Community Involvement
Alicia Photography has been a prominent part of the North Hills Community for over 20 years. One continuing philosophy of Alicia's is to "give back to the community"
Many charities and service organizations have benefited from this philosophy in their fundraisers. Each year the studio donates over 100 gift certificates worth $300.00 each to be used for auctions.
North Hills Community Outreach has received over 3,000 toys to be distributed to needy children during the holidays and over $50,000 have been donated to several organizations.
In 2000 the Alicia Photography Scholarship Fund was created to help women in hardship and returning to work obtain an education. Sixteen Alicia scholarships totaling more than $20,000 have been awarded through North Hills Community Outreach.
Alicia has been a member of the Board of Directors of North Hills Community Outreach, The Northern Allegheny Chamber of Commerce and, Zonta. Having served as Secretary of the Executive Committee, she is now Board President of Crisis Center North
For her involvement in the community Alicia has received several accolades. In 2002 she received the Athena Award and was recognized as one of Pennsylvania's 50 top business women. Crisis Center North honored her with the Northern Star Award , and she received a Congratulatory Citation from the Pennsylvania Senate. In 2003 Zonta International bestowed on her the Status of Women Award. In 2007 the American Association of University Women recognized her as one of the outstanding women who have contributed to the community and in 2008 Alicia was named Citizen of the Year by the McKnight Journal.
In June of 2004 Alicia was featured in the Seton Hill University E-Magnify web site's "Entrepreneur's Corner".
Twice her community work was the object of the cover story of North Hills Monthly Magazine: In January 2004 - The Alicia Photography Scholarship - and in January 2007 her support to Crisis Center North.
